HISTORY
The countries oldest jail opened in 1610 operating for over four centuries.
Thousands of people died here and are buried on the grounds. In the 17th & 18th centuries life for the women, men & children was horrendous sleeping 14 to a single cell, riddled in squalor and disease.
During WW2 it was used as a military prison holding American soldiers accused of murder, rape and other crimes. 18 of these were executed.
The prison returned to civilian use in 1966 and held some of the countries worst criminals including the notorious Kray Twins Ronnie & Reggie, gangland criminals along with their arch rival Charlie Richardson.
A lot seem to think they never left.
PARANORMAL ACTIVITY :-
Shadow figures, disembodied voices, cell doors slamming shut, footsteps echo throughout the jail, a lady in white with a small child spirit have also been seen a number of times by the guards and inmates.
People have been pushed and scratched on a number of occasions. A hooded figure of a lady has been seen in the Victorian exercise yard asking " where are the ferns" then disappears.
It is said that contractors swore they seen a soldier walk passed them up one of the corridors.
This is a terrifying location with dark energy that radiates throughout the long corridors.
